LuitConference is an extremely easy to use online web based manuscript submission and peer review system for Scholarly Journals, Reference Works and Conference Proceedings built using open source technologies. LuitConference is offered in the SaaS model in which Luit Infotech takes care of the software hosting and management for a fee. In LuitConference users are arranged into four categories: Authors, Reviewers, Associate Editors, and Chief Editor. Authors: Registered authors can submit papers, follow the status of the paper, and download reviews when they are released. Release of reviews takes place when a decision is made about the acceptability of the paper. Authors can resubmit a paper that was sent back for major revisions along with their responses. Authors of accepted papers can also post their final comments to the editors before the paper is sent for publication. Reviewers: Only registered reviewers can review papers in LuitConference. Reviewers can be added to a the system either by the editors or via an online application that needs to be approved by the editors. Reviewers can download papers for review, submit reviews on-line and fill out a manuscript review form. The editors select the reviewers for each paper. There is no restriction on the number of reviewers for a paper. Reviewers can also include a supplementary document containing figures, equations, etc. Associate Editors: Associate Editors are added to LuitConference by the Chief Editor. They are distinguished experts in fields covered by this journal. Associate Editors select expert reviewers for each paper. They assign reviewers and make recommendations about acceptance. Associate Editors can also add new reviewers to the database. LuitConference maintains a reviewer database organized by technical areas. Chief Editor: Chief Editor is the main administrator of the journal. When an author submits a paper to LuitConference, the Chief Editor sees it listed in his/her dashboard after logging into the system. If within the scope of the journal, the Chief Editor can assign the paper to the reviewers in the technical areas relevant to the paper. If not within scope, or for any other reason, the Chief Editor can decline the paper without review. The author will get an reminder from LuitConference to this effect.
